With the release of the Absence Of Color EP, Julia Klot brings a new feel to a classic genre. Lush with   addicting progressions, soulful vocals, and an indie attitude, the record hits the aesthetic of an indie folk classic. Though the songs are diverse from one and other, there is a glue that holds the EP together much like a concept album. Most importantly, the record never loses sight of the emotional platform great songs are built from.

The first single, "Long Shot", is an up beat indie pop power house. Complete with a unique, fast paced lyrical scheme, and strong groove, and a certain innocence, it gives an almost 90's alternative feel.

"This song is unique because I wrote it for the guitar. Most of my music is written on the piano. It is also unique because it sends a different message than any of my other songs. I like the message this song sends about perseverance and continuing to pursue your dreams despite other's opinions. I like how this song is upbeat and I especially like the harmonies." explains the songwriter of her single.

Although the single speaks volumes for the EP itself, to get a real understanding of where Julia is coming from, it should be heard in it's entirety. There is a consistent message throughout the record that holds true.

"This single actually contrasts the rest of the album which is about experiencing loss of love and heartbreak." says Julia of the EP.

When her father took her to a recording studio for her 12th birthday, Julia Klot was approached by Radian Records Andrew Felluss who offered to help produce a few songs for her. Once the process began, the label brought in professional players for drums and guitar to add a full band feel to the songs. After recording the first few songs, they decided to pull together a full length album with even more players to add more depth. Bringing in moog synthesizers, bass guitar, and added back ground vocal harmonies, and more, added a professional polish to the record as a whole.

For her latest release, Julia brought in musician Lola Johnson for guitars, shakers, and backing vocals but kept it at that. The Absence Of Color EP is leans toward the roots of where Julia's song writing is at with a much more peronal and indie feel.

As Julia herself puts it, "For the first time in my life, I have experienced the ups and downs of being in a relationship, including heartbreak, which strongly influences my writing and the passion I feel when singing."

The Absence Of Color EP is now available for streaming and download on most digital outlets, and Julia is planning on an album release party along with performances to follow shortly after in support of the release.
