Helpful Reviewing Hints

Accepting and Rejecting Artists....

The most annoying task with reviewing artists you've never heard before is deciding what to do with them after you've heard them.  The fact is, very few artists will "blow you away" - and very few are "the worst ever".

So, what to do with all the "Maybe's",  "Could Use Someday's", "Not Bad But Not Great's", and "Probably Not But They Might Have One Song I like, I'll Check Them Out Later's"

The MusicSUBMIT Review System was designed to handle Indie Artist Reviews - most artists will fall into one of the above-mentioned categories.

Try these tips when Reviewing....

1.  Reject the Artist outright...

Don't worry, you'll get another chance to review them.  Clicking "No" only sends the artist to your Rejected Folder.  You can always browse though your Rejected heap later - if the musician doesn't grab you right away, get rid of them for now and check 'em out when you're in a different mood.

2.  You're Not "Dissing" the artist by clicking "No"...

Again, don't worry about being too harsh when reviewing.  We don't disclose to the artist which Reviewers have rejected them, or that they've been rejected at all.  Artists receive only "Acceptances"  - all other sites that have rejected or not reviewed them show up in "Under Review" in artist accounts...You as the reviewer will not receive any nasty messages from thin-skinned artists that have just be told "NO".  Be as scrutinizing and selective as you wish - it's your station ( or magazine, label..)

3.  Tag your artists...

If you believe an artist has potential for your show, mag, or label, but for whatever reason the timing isn't right, use the Tag feature.  Try tagging the artist "Good But Not Now" or something similar.  Simply type in your custom tag in the Add box, then click Add.   You can bypass sending the artist your Acceptance letter by clicking the checkbox beneath your letter.  The artist will be sent to your Accepted folder.  You can re-review them later.  Visit your tags to find old artists you liked but forgot about....
