This time last year,
you said "We're gonna play more festivals in '08'"...
and you spent hundred's of $$ applying to 20-30 music festivals....
and didn't hear back from one!
Application fees aren't cheap. And yeah, some of the best festivals have been around so long, it can be "political" getting in. Sure some
unscrupulous festivals accept applications via SonicBids or mail, long
after they've filled most of the artist slots in the festival.
You still want to play festivals...but don't want to spend (or have) the money this year....
What to do?
Go "Offline"....It's better anyway!
In any decent-sized city with live music, there are plenty of venues
that were left out of the "official" festival selection. But guess
what, these venues are still open during the festival, and they're
looking to book bands on the side, during festival week...
Check out the city's live music scene - and book yourself in a venue!
Don't worry about badges, wristbands, or day-passes....plenty of music
fans will show up - and everyone benefits (yes, even the official
festival promoters, who can claim credit for bringing business to the
town).
In Austin and Miami, the "Offline" music scene, for many years, has
eclipsed the "Official" music festival, in terms of number of artists,
venues, and attendance.....Take advantage of the crowds &
festivities...You'll save on application fees, hassle of dealing with
inconvenient time slots, and enjoy all the benefits of the music
fest....And, you'll have a great time, too...
