Okay, it's been since last December when we wrote about the music industry in the 2000's (Looking Back.....http://www.musicsubmit.com/ArtistNewsletter_Dec9.html), profiling players in the music business that have stood the test of time. Not so long ago, major record labels (arguably) possessed the largest clout in the music industry. All artists in nearly every music genre depended upon the notice and recognition from a "label". Fast forward 20 years...

No. 11 - Music Publishing Houses
"Publishing is a game where you need to wear the uniform, just in case the coach calls you up..... but don't bother standing in the batter's box....or even lacing up your cleats...."

The future prospects of Music Publishers are only slightly better than that of Record Labels,
which, not so coincidentally, rely on the publishers for one of the last reliable sources of income.
Think of "Publishing" as those invisible streams of revenue generated by your songs being "out there somewhere".
Without getting into the mind-twisting world of music publishing, it's safe to say that publishing revenue for an artist is not what it used to be
