The Oogum Boogum Man is Back With Classic By Design
MORENO designed, CA (11/02/07) -- Some things just get better with time and become Classic By Design! Of course if hit songwriter and performing artist Brenton Wood designed it … it would have to be classic. His latest release, Classic by Design, proves that exceptional talent never goes out of style.
This album is “Old School” at its absolute best. The professor in this “Old School” is surely Brenton Wood. Classic By Design is Brenton’s fifth album, and a sure sign that his gift of composing addictive melodies are still as perfect and smooth as his powerful and soulful voice.
For the “new” students in that have yet to experience “Old School” at its best - here’s a quick lesson. Brenton entered the charts first in 1967 with the hits; “The Oogum Boogum Song” and “Gimme Little Sign.” Wood had already established himself as a songwriter and pianist by the time he charted as an artist with these hits. His other album releases over the years also include albums such as Baby You Got It in 1967 and Come Softly in 1977. His fans span generations, from Baby Boomers to listeners of soul, pop and R&B today. Classic By Design continues what is now a long lineage of songs with hit potential.
Produced by Brenton with programming by Hense Powell, Classic By Design is a journey through pop and soul via ten exceptional tracks written by Alfred Smith. “Classic by Design” is the first single on the album, and it jumps out as an addictive pop song with a catchy beat. Other notable tracks on the album are “The Girl in My Dreams” which shows Brenton has everything that Smokey Robinson does. “Cold Cash” has a great retro feel that will place you right into a Low-rider on Compton's Crenshaw Boulevard. “Aces Up Your Sleeve” really displays Brenton’s voice – the power, the control … it’s all still there.
