Comprised of five people equally afflicted with total music obsession, SALAZAR came together in New York City in the fall of 2005. With a desire to create dynamic music that they would want to listen to, singer/songwriter/guitarist Nate Gowtham, bassist Jesse Greendyk and lead guitarist/songwriter Ryan Cooney started arranging on acoustics and hitting harmonies in Nate’s living room. After posting for drummer’s on Craigslist, the three met up with Drummer John Federico, and it was mere months before SALAZAR was packing 100+ people into NYC venues like Pianos, Arlene’s Grocery, Club Midway, The Baggott Inn, Kenny’s Castaways, and so on. SALAZAR released the six-song “Restless” EP in July of 2006, and followed up with their full-length debut “Cinematocracy” in June of 2007, at which time they added keyboardist Michael Kester to add a much desired layer of sonic richness. Their music is a reminder that Rock & Roll needs three key elements: melody, mystery, and passion.
