How to use Myspace to Promote your Music
on the Internet
Part
1 (continued)
2- Work Off other Local Band Networks
In MySpace each personal or band profile has all of their
friends listed in their friend network for anyone to see. A
great way to start reaching out to potential fans is to find
a local group (or several groups) who are similar in style
to your music and begin contacting the friends in their list.
Telling them you are similar in style to a band they already
like is a nice way to break the ice. It makes your message
more valuable to them. It also saves you a lot of time. You
know they like the same type of music as yours and you know
they will add a local artist to their friends list. These are
two very important things to look for when spending your time
reaching out to local music lovers.

When searching for music you can choose the genre, location
from a zip code and more. Also be sure to sort the results
by something more relevant to your needs. Sort by either plays
or number of friends so you can find the best bands to network
with.
