What is a visitor worth? (continued)
Example 1:
If you were in a rock band based out of Boston
do you think it would be worth it to pay five cents for a visitor
who just searched for "Boston
Rock Band"? This searcher
has just proven they are looking for rock bands from boston. They
are without a doubt an extremely targeted potential customer.
Google's minimum bid is five cents a click but other networks
can go as low as one cent per click. Personally I feel if I were
a rock band in Boston that this visitor is worth the five cents
I would have to pay for them.
There are ZERO advertisers for
that keyword yet there must be hundreds of rock bands in
Boston.
Example 2:
What about other highly targeted keywords? Would
you say your music sounds similar to a major label artist's? At
least in the sense that if a person likes "so and so"
they would probably like you? People often search for an artist
they like with the words "sounds like", or "music
like" immediately before the artists name. These people are
specifically looking for new music that sounds similar to an artist
they like. They are great leads and worth five cents because they
are most likely to take an action that will make you money. These
are the people you are looking for! And if the price is right
why not put your ad when the searcher types in the major label
artists name directly?
If you put your mind to it you could come up with
a long list of perfect highly targeted keywords that would bring
you terrific leads for your music!
Getting started
Getting started is easy and there are lots of
networks that offer pay per click advertising at low rates for
very targeted keywords.
Here are some to try (if anyone knows of any others
please feel free to email them to me ...I'll add them here!) Some
of these networks have search term minimums of $.01 a click!

Of course we want to optimize our website's and
try to show up first in the search results for the keywords that
apply to us, but in the meantime pay-per-click advertising on
search engines gives us another way.
There are literally thousands and thousands of
unutilized targeted searches going on right now. People that are
searching for your music! The question is.. will they find you?
