Fact: The more webpages your site has,
the more visitors you'll get from the search engines.
Each page in your website has different text on
it and because google will assign a general meaning to each page
based on the text within it each page might show up for a different
set of search terms in the search engines. Your "contact us"
page might show up when someone searches for the city you live in.
Your bio page might show up when somone searches for the name of
the vintage guitar you own and mention on your bio page. So the
more pages you have the more sets of search terms you can show up
in the search engines for ...and more possiblities will mean more
visitors.
The impact more pages has on your website goes beyond
this simple explanation however. Adding pages to your site also
helps to increase your page
rank. This is because the search engines have deemed that larger
sites (sites with more content) are more likely to be authorities
on the subject matter at hand.
Remember: A page with a higher page rank has more
"weight" to it and is more likely to show up in the search
results over pages with a lower page rank. So increasing the overall
page rank of your website means every page you currently have...and
add in the future- has a greater potential to rank higher in the
search engines over pages with a lower page rank.
