Optimizing the name of your .MP3 files
- How to use Kazzaa to your advantage
You've finally finished
your CD and rushed to get an .mp3 file up on the web. Now all of
your anxious fans can get a little taste of what's available on
your CD. But wait! Did you pay attention to the one tiny detail
that more than ninety percent of musicians overlook?
Did you pay attention to the name
of your MP3 file?
Most bands name their MP3 file the name of the
song. So most bands end up with a file name like "ThreeLittleWords.mp3"
or "YoureMyAngel.mp3" But what if the listener goes back
to that song and doesn't remember the name of your band!? How will
they find you? It happens much much more than you think! What a
waste- you did everything right; you brought the visitor to your
website and you enticed them to download a sample of your music
but you failed to connect with that potential fan because you didn't
name your MP3 correctly.
So- lets go over some naming conventions and see
what our possibilities are.
ArtistName_SongName.mp3
- good basic name, now they have the name of your band and can search
the web to find you if they feel so inclined.
ArtistName_Location_SongName.mp3
- this let's them know if you are local. It also lets them know
to look for you if they ever visit the region you are from. If they
have a friend that lives in your area they may forward your info
to them.
ArtistName_Location_SongName_SoundLike_ArtistName.mp3-
okay this last naming convention takes us into the next part of
