The crossroads of blues, rock-n-roll and ballads in an aggressive solo acoustic setting dipped in hippie!
Influences Powerhouse Electric Blues, Woodstock
Sounds Like Rock-n-Roll, Southern Rock, Ballads

Stephen Monroe is a singer, writer and guitar player. He's a solo performer with the energy of a band. His music is a melting pot of all the great music that has graced his life - the drive of electronic blues, the passion of a heart wrenching ballad, rock-n-roll in all it's splendor and stories in a song. All these make music exciting every day.

In the beginning Stephen's two older brothers opened the door to the rest of his musical life. When he was a youngster the worldwide music scene was hot and heavy with talent. His brothers allowed a young boy to come to their practices and gigs and there he saw the music make magic.

Stephen started playing in bands right out of high school and except for a few lulls, he’s been playing ever since. He played bass and sang in some great under-the-wire bands. Energy and performance were always key ingredients. There he saw the music work its magic again and it captivated him. He also became a stage hand at the local auditoruim and musci hall. This gave him the insight of an insider and knowledge of the work ethic it really takes.

As time went on, the acoustic playing song writer would take over center stage in Stephen's musical assent. Several of his original tunes had gotten into the playing lists of the bands he was in and two had been recorded on Big Dog Records (Drive it Home and Waitin for My Train)with the band Harper Dillon. But it was time to grow. He cut his solo teeth at the local coffee houses and at church, where he started writing in a more introspective and self exploratory fashion. The energy of his rock-n-roll past started to light up his acoustic performances. Stephen soon was making his own waves whether in a line up of rock bands or gigging a night solo.

So in an age of lip sync sincerity, Stephen Monroe emerges with a passion born from the power of music's past and enthusiasm for the future. He plays and sings from a place of extreme joy. Stephen Monroe, a solo artist, guitar player, singer and writer of songs plays for YOU and wants you to feel good about spending your time with him. You can trust him to give you all he's got to entertain you and wants you to leave with one thought.......WHEN CAN WE DO IT AGAIN!

Performance at The Midpoint Music Festival - September 2005 All the way from Omaha, Nebraska, Stephen Monroe decides to flip from love songs to boogie-blues over at Harry's. He does a humorous '50s doo-wop style ditty. He turns out to be a really good entertainer.

I've known Stephen Monroe since he was a wee tyke having played in a band with his older brother. ..After catching up on what we'd been doing. We decided to get together to play some music. I was quite surprised to find that Steve had grown musically, not only doing cover material ranging from blues to rock to country, but more impressively... writing, singing and playing his own music. I immediately fell in the grove playing bass on Steve's songs since I could really identify with all of his original music. Each has a message and a way of sticking in my head. They are simply fun and enjoyable to play and to listen to!
Ed Napravnik (Bass player)
